A gang of suspected armed robbers trailed a man from a third-generation bank in Minna, Niger State, and managed to snatch over N10 million from him.
The incident took place on Friday, March 6, 2026, shortly after the victim reportedly received cash from a client.
According to reports, the assailants intercepted the man on Shiroro Road, seized the cash, and also drove away with his Toyota Camry.
Moreover, it was noted that the victim managed to recover one of the firearms utilized by the robbers during the incident.
Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, confirmed the occurrence and stated that the police successfully retrieved the rifle and the vehicle that was abandoned by the attackers.
He mentioned that efforts to capture the fleeing criminals are currently underway.
“At approximately 3 PM on March 6, 2026, armed robbers ambushed a Toyota Camry, which they had allegedly followed from a bank to Shiroro Road,” the PPRO detailed.
He went on to elaborate, “The victim lost both his cash and his vehicle, while the robbers escaped in the victim's car after abandoning their own Toyota Corolla.”
“Further investigations revealed that the victim recovered one of the firearms used during the robbery. Police officers from Tudun-Wada Division quickly responded to the scene, successfully recovering the firearm and the robbers' vehicle,” he added.
The case has since been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Minna, and police are intensifying efforts to detain the suspects who are still at large.
