The Football Association (FA) has issued a charge of improper conduct against Manchester United defender Harry Maguire. This action follows his dismissal during the team's recent Premier League match against Bournemouth.
Maguire received a red card for an incident where he pushed Bournemouth attacker Evanilson inside the penalty area. The referee awarded a penalty for the challenge, a decision that came after a similar incident involving Amad in the Bournemouth box was initially waved away by the official.
The England international expressed his disagreement with the referee's decision, Stuart Attwell, and subsequently had an interaction with the fourth official as he left the field of play.
The FA has now formally charged Maguire, stating the allegation centres on his conduct towards the fourth official after his sending off.
In a statement released by the FA, it was confirmed that: “Harry Maguire has been charged after being sent off in the 78th minute of Man Utd’s Premier League match against Bournemouth on March 20.
“It’s alleged that the defender acted in an improper manner and/or abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards the fourth official following his dismissal.
“Harry Maguire has until April 2 to provide a response.”
