Preliminary evaluations suggest that the conflict-induced damage sustained by Iran from attacks by the United States and Israel is valued at around $270 billion, according to a statement from the Iranian government spokesperson on Tuesday, April 14.
Fatemeh Mohajerani, the government spokeswoman, indicated to Russia's RIA Novosti, as reported by Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency, that "one of the issues that our negotiating team is pursuing, and which was also pursued in the Islamabad talks, is the issue of war reparations."
Mohajerani emphasized that the $270 billion figure is subject to further review, stating, "Damages usually have to be examined in several layers."
The current wave of regional tensions significantly intensified following a coordinated assault by the US and Israel against Iran on February 28, which resulted in numerous casualties.
In response, Tehran carried out retaliatory strikes targeting Israel, Iraq, Jordan, and countries in the Gulf region that host US military installations. A ceasefire was subsequently declared last week, concluding a two-week period of heightened conflict.
Negotiations between Iranian and US representatives concluded early Sunday in Islamabad, Pakistan, after 21 hours of discussions, but did not result in a formal agreement.
