An Islamic group known as Al-Harakatul Islamiyyah has attributed the escalating humanitarian and political predicament faced by Palestinians to what it terms as complacency within the Muslim Ummah and a deviation from Islamic teachings.

During the commemoration of Quds Day 2026, which took place in Ilorin and included a demonstration, the Amir of the group, Mallam AbdulRazzaq AbdulWahab Al-Amin Aladodo, expressed that the ongoing suffering in Palestine is indicative of a broader lack of unity and commitment to Islamic values among Muslims globally.

"The ongoing suffering of the Palestinians and the desecration of Masjid Al- Aqsa serve as stark evidence that injustice persists in a world that has strayed from divine guidance," he noted.

Aladodo emphasized that Masjid Al-Aqsa, revered as the third holiest site in Islam, holds historical and spiritual significance, reminding that it is vital to Muslim identity and solidarity worldwide.

The group urged the Nigerian government to adopt a strong stance regarding the crisis in the Middle East, including pressing for the severance of diplomatic ties with Israel.

"Merely advocating for an end to hostilities without addressing the known aggressors is mere tokenism," Aladodo remarked.

He further called for Nigeria to explicitly condemn the supposed aggression by Israel and the U.S. against Iran, asserting that maintaining neutrality amidst injustice undermines efforts for global peace.

Al-Harakatul Islamiyyah characterized the actions taken by Hamas against Israel on October 7, 2023, as a pivotal moment in the Palestinian struggle.

"It is abundantly clear that the current hostilities in the region are closely linked to the long-standing Palestinian issue," stated the Amir.

Additionally, he expressed confidence in Iran's role in the crisis, stating that the nation is effectively representing itself in the ongoing conflict.

The group called on Muslim nations to unify and set aside internal rifts, particularly the tensions involving Gulf states and Iran.

"The Muslim Ummah must transcend sectarian divisions and utilize every available resource to support the Palestinian cause and mitigate the humanitarian disaster in Gaza," Aladodo advised.

He cautioned that ongoing disunity among Muslim nations may lead to sidelining the Palestinian issue on the global agenda.

Al-Harakatul Islamiyyah criticized the Abraham Accords, labeling them as detrimental to the interests of Palestinians.

The group argued that the normalization of relations between certain Arab nations and Israel undermines decades of struggles and sacrifices made for the Palestinian cause.

"Continuing with such agreements is akin to celebrating on the graves of those who sacrificed their lives for the struggle," the statement declared.

They further urged Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to rethink their hosting of U.S. military bases, arguing that these facilities serve counterproductive strategic interests.

The group asserted that the United Arab Emirates should refrain from redeploying its ambassador to Israel, warning that such an action would signal endorsement of oppressive policies.

Sheikh Abubakar Olori from Daarul Jaoharat Institution of Arabic and Islam in Ilorin cautioned against criticizing Muslim countries for their approaches to the Middle East crisis, promoting unity within the Ummah.

He encouraged Muslims to emphasize spiritual solidarity and the necessity of prayers to support Palestinians and other affected Muslim populations.

In expressing gratitude at the event, Dr. Abdullateef Raji highlighted that the persistent Middle East conflict is rooted in long-standing Western geopolitical strategies, including colonial
