Joint Operation by Police, Army, and NSCDC Leads to Arrest of 99 Suspects in Ondo

In a collaborative effort, security forces in Ondo State arrested 99 individuals involved in various criminal activities during a coordinated raid. The operation was supported by multiple agencies including the police, military, and civil defense corps.

The Ondo State Police Command reported that a synchronized operation on Sunday resulted in the apprehension of 99 individuals implicated in a range of criminal activities throughout the region.

DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the Police Command’s spokesperson, made this announcement in Akure on Monday. Jimoh elaborated that this collaborative initiative brought together the Ondo State Police Command, the 32 Brigade Artillery of the Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). Other involved entities included the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Ondo State Security Network Agency, commonly referred to as the Amotekun Corps.

Jimoh stated, "The operation was intelligence-driven and aimed at specific locations known for criminal activities, targeting identified hideouts and hotspots across the state." He indicated that the operation culminated in the detention of 99 suspects associated with crimes such as armed robbery, burglary, theft, and cultism, among others.

Additionally, during the raid, several items suspected to be linked to criminal activities were seized, including possibly stolen goods and various incriminating evidence. Jimoh mentioned that the detained suspects are currently undergoing screening and profiling, with those found guilty set to face prosecution.

Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, praised the commitment, professionalism, and synergy exhibited by all involved security agencies. He highlighted that such collaboration is essential in the ongoing battle against crime within the state.

The statement mentioned, "The CP emphasized the Command's firm dedication to fostering intelligence-led policing and collaborative security efforts to disrupt criminal networks and uphold public order."

Lawal cautioned criminal elements against illegal activities, asserting that Ondo State will not become a refuge for criminals. He urged the community to continue providing security agencies with timely and reliable information.

"Community involvement is crucial to maintaining peace and security in the state. The Command assures the public that every effort will be made to ensure that all individuals engaging in criminal behavior are brought to justice," Jimoh concluded.
