Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has made an appeal to the Federal Government for intervention, specifically requesting the provision of advanced firefighting equipment.
This call for assistance comes after the Governor visited the Singa Market in Kano, where a significant fire outbreak occurred.
The fire, which was still active upon the Governor's arrival at the Gidan Gilas section of the market, caused extensive damage to numerous shops and properties.
Governor Yusuf acknowledged and commended the prompt response and diligent efforts of the Kano State Fire Service and various security agencies who were actively working to control the blaze.
He urged traders and residents present at the market to maintain calm and fully cooperate with the emergency responders engaged in battling the fire.
The Governor also requested aerial support and essential tools to effectively extinguish the fire and implement measures to prevent future occurrences. His plea emphasized the need to bolster the capacity of fire services to respond efficiently to emergencies, particularly in critical commercial hubs.
