A Sharia Court located in Kofar Kudu, Kano Municipal, has imposed a three- month prison sentence on Yusuf Habibu Sagagi after he was found guilty of illegal possession of dangerous weapons, intimidation, and making threats against his mother.
Sagagi faced a total of three charges during his arraignment.
He acknowledged his guilt for all the charges when they were presented to him.
Delivering the verdict, Justice Shamsuddeen Ado Abdullahi Unguwargini sentenced Sagagi to three months in a correctional facility without offering an option for a fine concerning the first charge.
Furthermore, the court mandated that after his prison term, Sagagi must complete a six-month community service bond. Additionally, as part of his rehabilitation process, he is required to attend an Islamiya school where he will study Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), supervised by officials appointed by the court.
The court remarked that the sentence was designed to serve both as punishment and as a means of rehabilitation, highlighting the seriousness of the charges which involved intimidating his mother with dangerous weapons.
