With the approaching deadline for government appointees planning to run in the forthcoming 2027 general elections, many officials in Katsina State are quickly resigning from their positions.
Leading the resignations is Alhaji Hamza Sulaiman Faskari, the commissioner for environment, who submitted his resignation to the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari.
Following his resignation, Faskari spoke to the press, stating that he is stepping down to participate in the All Progressive Congress (APC) primary elections for a senatorial seat.
"I am resigning to contest a senatorial seat in our party primaries, acting on the call from our senatorial district. I assure everyone listening that my loyalty to Governor Dikko Radda remains steadfast, and I am always prepared to follow his directives," he remarked.
Another notable resignation was made by Malam Shehu Abdu Daura, who serves as the governor's special advisor on narcotics and human trafficking. He indicated that his decision to resign was in line with his intention to seek the senatorial ticket for the Daura zone during the APC primaries.
Additionally, sources within the SSG’s office have confirmed that numerous appointees have been flocking to submit their resignations. It was reported that the office continues to document the incoming resignations as they arrive.
