The Kebbi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has affirmed its intention to join the upcoming national convention organized by a faction aligned with Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

This announcement was made by the State Secretary of the party, Abubakar Kalgo, during a statement in Birnin Kebbi over the weekend.

He indicated that the consensus to partner with the Wike group and participate in the convention was reached by significant stakeholders within the party statewide.

Kalgo further mentioned that all delegates from Kebbi are set to participate fully in the convention, which is scheduled to take place from Sunday to Monday in Abuja.

“This move showcases the Kebbi PDP's commitment to remaining engaged in national party matters despite internal conflicts that have recently affected its operations,” he explained.

This development follows the prior rejection of Kabiru Tanimu as National Chairman of the party by the Kebbi chapter after a convention held in Ibadan last November.

The state PDP opposed Tanimu's emergence as they pointed out his lack of participation in party activities within Kebbi and his failure to effectively consult with key stakeholders prior to announcing his candidacy for the national leadership position.

Kalgo expressed satisfaction with the organization of the Abuja convention and assured that all delegates are ready to engage actively.

He emphasized that the Abuja convention will serve as a platform for party members to enhance internal unity and strategically reposition the PDP for future political contests.
