The Kebbi State Police Command announced the arrest of an individual suspected of kidnapping and the rescue of two victims from Kalgo and Dandi Local Government Areas.
According to SP Bashir Usman, the command's Public Relations Officer, one of the victims, 55-year-old Alhaji Juli Muhammad, was taken from his residence in Kokani Village, Kalgo LGA, where he was restrained before being led into the wilderness.
Another victim, identified as Garba Bachal, aged 50, was abducted from Maigwaza Village in Dandi.
SP Usman stated, "Based on credible intelligence, officers from the Kalgo and Kamba divisions, in collaboration with a local vigilante group, successfully rescued the victims unharmed and apprehended one of the suspects, Umar Usman, from the Augie Fadama area of the state."
He further noted that the suspects fled upon the arrival of the police, enabling the safe recovery of the victims.
Garba Bachal has since been transferred to Maigwaza Hospital for recovery.
SP Usman emphasized that efforts are ongoing to capture the other suspects involved, adding that this operation exemplifies the command's intelligence- led and proactive approach, prioritizing rapid response, strategic coordination, and the safeguarding of lives and property.
