Key Figures Attend Burial of El-Rufai's Mother in Abuja

The burial of Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El- Rufai, took place in Abuja on Sunday, attracting a diverse group of Nigeria's political and business elites.

The funeral service, known as Jana’iza, was conducted at the National Mosque in Abuja, drawing a wide array of governors, federal officials, political leaders, and esteemed guests from across the nation.

Key attendees included Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Emir of Zazzau Ahmed Bamalli, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Business tycoon Aliko Dangote, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Communications Isa Ali Pantami, and Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya were also present, reflecting the extensive connections Mr. El-Rufai has built over his career in public service.

Following the Jana’iza prayer, the late matriarch was laid to rest at Gudu Cemetery in accordance with Islamic traditions.
