A significant development in Kano's political landscape has emerged as Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the influential leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, conveyed a firm message to Governor Abba Yusuf and other political figures reportedly contemplating defections. This signals a deepening divergence with his former political associates.

The political climate has intensified following the reported resignation of Governor Yusuf, alongside numerous local government council chairmen, members of the House of Representatives, and other aides, who are allegedly shifting allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC) within the state.

Addressing party loyalists at his residence in Kano shortly after the governor's announcement, the national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) emphasized that his lifelong political engagement has consistently been dedicated to the empowerment of ordinary citizens.

Kwankwaso declared, “I am not for sale. My political principles are my foundation. Had I been driven by personal enrichment, I would have chosen a simpler path, and you would be searching for me elsewhere, not here.”

He further highlighted that the movement's endurance is rooted in shared values rather than material benefits. “Our common vision is what propels me forward. If greed had been my motivator, I would have accepted the financial gains and departed, and you would not be here lending your support.”

Kwankwaso urged his supporters to commence preparations early for the upcoming 2027 general elections, cautioning against any complacency.

“We require individuals like you who have made sacrifices and stood firm for what is right. You must not falter, as we will eventually achieve our goals,” he stated.

Regarding the recent events in Kano, he added that immediate preparations are essential. “Given the current developments in Kano, we must begin our preparations without delay, as certain individuals are determined to dismantle what we have painstakingly built over time.”

Reiterating his steadfast position, Kwankwaso assured his supporters that he would not compromise his core beliefs. “My sole purpose is to champion the cause of the common people. I will not yield to those who exploit the masses,” he affirmed.
