During a courtesy call by the LCCI leadership, headed by their new President, Engr. Leye Kupoluyi, the governor was represented by his deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.

He revealed that the convention centre will be situated along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, close to Alaro City, and is intended to act as a focal point for businesses, trade exhibitions, conferences, and global events. Hamzat assured the LCCI of the government's willingness to collaborate and encouraged the leadership of the organization to enhance partnerships with pertinent ministries, specifically the Ministry of Commerce, for effective project execution and alignment.

He stressed that despite the strong enthusiasm and backing for the project, a clearer engagement and coordination among the involved institutions will be vital for advancing progress and realizing successful outcomes.

The deputy governor pointed out that the envisioned convention centre is in line with the development agenda of the Sanwo-Olu administration, termed THEMES+, which focuses on stimulating economic development, job creation, tourism, and enhancing global competitiveness.

Moreover, he indicated that this facility would not only draw international events and exhibitions to Lagos but also bolster local enterprises, amplify investor confidence, and reinforce the state's reputation as the go-to location for commerce and innovation across Africa.

In his opening comments, Kupoluyi praised the Lagos State government for its steadfast support and for fostering an environment conducive to the chamber's growth. He conveyed that both the LCCI and the government share a mutual future, emphasizing the necessity of cooperation to position Lagos as a significant hub not just for West Africa, but for the entirety of the continent.
