Barrister Abdulsalami Ginsau, a practicing lawyer, has reportedly died following an incident where he became trapped in an elevator at a hotel in Abuja.
According to an eyewitness, this unfortunate event took place on Monday, March 30, 2026.
Reports indicate that Ginsau was confined in the lift for an extended duration, which led to his demise, believed to be due to suffocation.
The specific details regarding the incident's cause remain unverified.
It is still uncertain whether the elevator malfunction was caused by a power failure or a mechanical issue.
As of the latest updates, authorities and the hotel management have made an official announcement but have not revealed the hotel's identity.
In the wake of this tragedy, friends and colleagues have expressed their condolences on social media.
Usamatu Zango lamented the loss, stating, “The passing of Barrister Abdulsalam Umar Ginsau has left me with a deep sense of loss and reflection.”
He continued, “To many, he was a teacher; but to me and countless others, he was a mentor, a guide, and a source of inspiration whose impact will never fade. I had the privilege of being his student during my primary school years between 2007 and 2008.”
Zango noted, “Although his time with us was short, the influence he had on my life was profound and lasting. He was a simple and dedicated teacher who committed himself to ensuring that his students not only excelled academically but also transitioned into confident and responsible individuals.”
Zango reminisced about Ginsau's dedication, stating, “I still remember his tireless efforts in organizing and guiding us through activities such as the Jet Club, Press Club, and quiz competitions.”
He recalled, “He was always present, always encouraging, and always pushing us to do better. What stood out most was how much he believed in us, even when we doubted ourselves.”
Through Ginsau’s mentorship, Zango mentioned, “I discovered abilities in myself that I never knew I had. He taught me how to speak in public with confidence, how to present papers clearly and effectively, and how to stand before an audience without fear.”
He expressed gratitude for the influence Ginsau had on his life, stating, “Every time I speak or present today, I see the foundation he built in me. His influence did not end with me; many young students from our time were shaped by his dedication and vision.”
He concluded, “Personally, I will always be grateful for the role he played in my life. The confidence I carry, the courage to express myself, and the value I place on learning are all part of his legacy in me.”
Zango ended with a touching tribute, saying, “Though he is no longer with us, his teachings and his impact remain alive in my heart. Allah Ya Jikan Malam Da Rahama Ya Gafarta Masa Ameen.”
