Liverpool has progressed to the quarter-final stage of the English FA Cup, defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1. The match, a fifth-round tie in the world's oldest football competition, saw Liverpool deliver a strong second- half performance, scoring three goals through Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah, and Curtis Jones. This victory adds to their ten goals in the competition this season.
Hwang Hee-Chan scored the sole goal for Wolves.
Having suffered a surprising league defeat to Wolves earlier in the week, Liverpool, the 2022 FA Cup winners, avoided a repeat of that outcome. Robertson opened the scoring in the 51st minute with a precise 25-yard strike into the bottom corner. Salah then extended the lead shortly after, converting from Robertson's cross. Jones secured the victory in the 74th minute with a curling shot from the edge of the box, before Hwang Hee-Chan's late goal offered a brief moment of cheer for the home supporters. Wolves have now been eliminated from the FA Cup, while Liverpool moves on to their third FA Cup quarter-final appearance in five years.
With eight titles in the competition, Liverpool remains in contention for silverware in one of the two remaining competitions they can win this season.
