A man known simply as Emeka tragically lost his life after being thrown from a four-storey building located at 17, Afubera Street, Odoakpu, near Onitsha, Anambra State, according to reports from Punch.
The unfortunate event occurred in the early hours around 3am on Friday, March 27, 2026.
Sources indicate that Emeka was allegedly thrown from the structure after being accused of stealing boxer shorts that belonged to his employer, who is also the owner of the premises.
A local resident, identified only as Chichi, shared information with the media stating that Emeka, who worked as a site supervisor and resided in the building, endured physical abuse and was confined for three days before the incident took place.
Chichi recounted, "The victim was a site engineer who lived in the building. Some floors were utilized as a factory for producing boxer shorts, which he oversaw. He faced accusations of stealing boxer shorts, which led to his assault. Following this, he was bound and locked in a room for three days."
She added, "At about 3am on Friday, we heard a loud commotion. When we rushed outside, we discovered his lifeless body on the ground with his head tied, indicating he was forcibly thrown from the fourth floor."
Authorities were called to the scene to remove the body, and police later apprehended several suspects, including employees from the factory.
The spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the occurrence on Sunday, stating that key suspects have been apprehended and investigations are currently underway.
"There are various testimonies contributing to the inquiry. Some assert that the victim was killed by his employers, while others believe he tried to escape by leaping from the building after being locked in a room," the police public relations officer stated.
"The police are utilizing all available information to ensure justice is served. An autopsy will also be performed to facilitate further investigation. The case is actively being examined, and the suspects remain in custody."
