The police in Ekiti State have charged a 52-year-old individual, Samuel Bayode, at the Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti under allegations of assault and malicious damage.
The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, informed the court that on February 20, 2026, in the Basiri area of Ado-Ekiti, the defendant assaulted Ilesanmi Taiwo by pushing her forcefully to the ground.
In addition, ASP Oriyomi accused Bayode of intentionally damaging the complainant's mobile phone, specifically a Tecno Spark 8P, which was valued at N120,000, on the same day and location.
The charges brought against him are in violation of Sections 183 and 354 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.
The defendant’s attorney, Barrister Ademola Richard, appealed for bail, assuring the court that his client would comply with all bail conditions.
Following this, Chief Magistrate Mr. Abayomi Adeosun approved bail for Bayode at N100,000, requiring him to present one surety of equal value. The proceedings have been scheduled for a hearing on April 16.
