Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu of the Kano State High Court has condemned Mansur Garba to death following his conviction for culpable homicide.
The court determined that Garba had intentionally killed his friend, Tasiu Haruna, stemming from a dispute that occurred at a guinea corn farm located in the Rogo Local Government Area.
To substantiate the case against Garba, the prosecution presented testimonies from seven witnesses, alongside several pieces of evidence.
In response to the death penalty ruling, Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude (SAN), the State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, expressed that the verdict demonstrates the Kano State Ministry of Justice's dedication to vigorously prosecuting violent crimes.
He praised Barrister Safiya Yalwati Yahaya, the Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, for her commendable performance and commitment in leading the prosecution team.
Maude noted that this case marks her second notable success in rapidly prosecuting a significant criminal matter.
The Attorney General assured the public that the Ministry of Justice is committed to upholding justice with integrity, emphasizing a strict adherence to the law.
"Those who commit violent crimes will face consequences, and the sanctity of human life will consistently be upheld," Maude affirmed.
