Man Stabs Twin Sister Over 40 Times and Attacks Mother Following Breakup

A man is said to have stabbed his twin sister over 40 times before turning his aggression on their mother, following a breakup.

The tragic incident occurred in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, India.

The assailant, aged 25, allegedly inflicted more than 40 stab wounds on his sister and also assaulted their mother inside their home, succumbing to depression after a romantic setback.

Authorities report that the man, who became infatuated with a woman he met on Instagram, held his mother and sister accountable for the failure of his relationship. This anger ultimately culminated in a violent attack that devastated the family.

Neelima, the mother, lives in Buddhi Vihar Colony and works for a health insurance firm. Her twins, Hardik and Himshikha, both aged 25, resided together in Gurugram for their jobs.

The siblings had visited Moradabad to celebrate the festival of Holi and were preparing to return to Gurugram on the sixth of March, 2026.

Following the Holi celebrations, Neelima left for work, leaving Hardik and Himshikha at home. It was during this time that Hardik is alleged to have viciously attacked his sister with a knife, leaving her severely injured.

Instead of seeking help, Hardik went to his mother's workplace and fabricated an excuse to lure her back home.

Upon entering their residence, Neelima discovered her daughter in a pool of blood, prompting her to scream, which echoed through the neighborhood.

Hardik then allegedly turned on his mother, stabbing her multiple times before escaping in a car.

Neighbors, alerted by Neelima's cries, rushed into the house and were horrified by the situation. An ambulance was promptly summoned, and both victims were transported to the district hospital.

Medical staff pronounced Himshikha deceased upon arrival, while Neelima, who sustained severe injuries, was admitted for treatment and is currently hospitalized.

Investigating officers discovered that Hardik had been involved with a woman from Pune, with whom he primarily communicated on Instagram.

Moradabad’s SP City, Ranvijay Singh, mentioned that the relationship ended approximately seven months ago, leading to Hardik’s emotional distress.

Neelima, speaking to police from her hospital bed, noted her son’s changed behavior post-breakup.

"He became extremely irritable and blamed his mother and sister for the relationship’s demise, losing his temper over trivial matters," police documented her statement as saying.

During interrogation, Hardik recounted the events that led to the assault, stating, "I fell in love with a girl I met on Instagram. After our breakup about seven months ago, I spiraled into depression. Although my sister and mother tried to comfort me, I suddenly lost control."

He added, "I took a large knife from the kitchen and attacked my sister multiple times while she was lying on the bed. I also aimed to harm my mother."

The post-mortem report revealed the extreme brutality of the violence inflicted.

Reports showed that Himshikha suffered over 40 stab wounds, highlighting the ferocity of the attack that resulted in her instant death.

The accused has been apprehended, and further investigations into this horrific case are ongoing.
