Troops engaged in Operation Hadin Kai have successfully apprehended a suspected collaborator of the ISWAP/JAS terror groups in the Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
The arrest occurred around 5:35 p.m. on March 27, executed by personnel from the 25 Brigade and the 19 Battalion (Mobile), in coordination with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
The detainee is a resident of Gwalki village, situated in the Kafa region of Damboa LGA, and currently resides at the Hausari Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Maiduguri.
According to military sources, the individual has been accused of assisting ISWAP/JAS operatives active in the Damboa vicinity.
During initial interrogation, the suspect claimed to be a member of a hybrid force and to have renounced terrorism.
Nonetheless, he admitted to participating in the illegal sale of ammunition to terrorist groups at the Timbuktu Triangle, facilitated through an accomplice known as Konto Fatima, who reportedly lives at the Aburi IDP camp, as disclosed by the military source.
The suspect is presently in military custody and is undergoing additional investigation.
