It was reported that one of the individuals involved in the accident died immediately, while the other suffered a tragic fate when a mob descended upon him, resulting in his lynching before police could rescue him. The bodies were subsequently transported to the morgue at the general hospital in Suleja.

The police statement described the incident, detailing that on February 17, 2026, around 9:50 PM, a report was made indicating that two men on a motorcycle veering from Kaduna towards Abuja had crashed near the Toll gate.

As the patrol team arrived, they noted that bystanders were also attempting to help. However, they made a disturbing discovery: the accident victims were traveling with a sack that contained weapons.

The Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, condemned the actions of the mob, asserting that the individual who was lynched could have offered valuable information regarding the origin of the rifles and the intentions behind their possession.

Elleman has since instructed the Area Commander in Suleja to launch a full investigation to apprehend the perpetrators of the lynching and ensure that the rifles undergo ballistic analysis for further inquiries.

In a related development, the police apprehended a suspect implicated in the theft of a motorcycle from an Okada rider. Following a report made by the victim, who was assaulted while riding in Kwanan-Mariga on February 11, 2026, police initiated an investigation.

The inquiry led to the arrest of a 40-year-old suspect, Umar Mansir, who was reportedly attempting to sell the stolen motorcycle. He admitted his involvement and named accomplices who remain at large.

The stolen motorcycle has been recovered, and efforts are ongoing to locate Mansir's associates.
