Multiple Casualties in Boko Haram Assault on Chibok Community in Borno

On March 30, 2026, suspected Boko Haram insurgents targeted the Kautikari community in the Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, leading to numerous deaths. Community member Daniel Dauda Nyadar confirmed the incident on Tuesday, revealing that among the victims was a young man who was set to marry on April 1.

So far, six fatalities have been reported, although the actual death toll may surpass ten, according to local sources. Nyadar explained the profound impact of this attack on the community, emphasizing that a brave vigilante commander also lost his life during the violence.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Nyadar lamented the tragedy: "The Kautikari community endured another devastating attack yesterday, with innocent lives taken once more. Six deaths are confirmed, though some reports suggest that the toll might exceed ten. A young man who was supposed to wed tomorrow is among those killed, a heartbreaking indication of potential futures snatched away from us."

He added, "Kautikari is not merely a locality; it is a stronghold protecting Chibok and Askira. If the attackers breach this defense, the ability to shield those towns will be severely compromised. Our community woke up today engulfed in sorrow and disbelief, even as families proceeded to lay their loved ones to rest. Despite our continuous pleas for assistance, they remain unanswered."

Nyadar called on authorities to take their responsibilities more seriously, indicating that the assault was not random but specifically targeted key individuals who defended their community. He concluded with a somber message, wishing peace for the souls lost and urging for swift justice against those accountable for this horrific act.
