The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has claimed that there will be no opposition to his party in the state during the 2027 general elections.

Mutfwang made this declaration on Tuesday in Jos, after Rufus Bature was elected as the new chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State.

Bature and his fellow executive committee members were elected through a consensus process.

Addressing the gathering after the election, Mutfwang voiced his confidence that the APC would remain the dominant party in Plateau as they approach the 2027 polls.

"By the grace of God, we will only compete against ourselves in the 2027 elections. There will be no opposition in Plateau," he stated.

He further pointed out that the citizens of Plateau have consistently shown faith in the leadership and initiatives of the party.

"I trust that the people of Plateau believe in us and will continue to back us because they recognize our dedication to their well-being. The opportunity we have will be used for the advancement of the state’s residents. The time for unity in Plateau is now," he emphasized.

Mutfwang underscored the importance of solidarity, patience, and reconciliation among party members, referring to the APC as a family whose internal discord should not undermine its unity or collective goals.

Although he acknowledged that some matters still needed resolution, he assured party members that these issues would be addressed amicably for the common good of the party.

He congratulated Bature and the new executive committee members on their election and urged them to remain loyal to the party, the President, and the people of the state.

Additionally, Mutfwang announced a month-long membership campaign across the state, encouraging every registered party member to recruit at least ten new members.

"As ambassadors of the party, I urge you to go into every corner of the state and encourage more individuals to join us. A larger and more united party will better serve the interests of Plateau," he added.

He also called on party members to advocate for the party’s e-membership initiative, highlighting that success in elections relies on a robust party structure and vigorous grassroots mobilization.

During his acceptance speech, Bature expressed gratitude to party leaders and delegates for their faith in him and his administration. He described his re- election as both a privilege and a duty, pledging to work diligently to satisfy the expectations of party members statewide.

Bature recounted notable accomplishments achieved during his previous term, including the election of three senators, 23 members to the Plateau State House of Assembly, eight House of Representatives members, 17 local government chairpersons, and 325 councillors representing the APC.

He assured party members that the leadership would continue to provide proactive support and oversight to ensure accountability and ongoing electoral success.
