Bukola Olopade, Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), has praised the remarkable performance of ten-year-old Quadri Aruna jnr at the World Table Tennis Youth championship in Luxembourg. Aruna, the son of Nigerian table tennis legend Quadri Aruna, achieved a notable performance by clinching the silver medal in the Under-11 category and the bronze medal in the Under-13 category.
"The emergence of a promising young talent like Quadri junior represents a significant advantage for Nigerian sports and the future of table tennis in the country," Olopade stated.
"I must also commend Quadri and his wife, Qaniat, for their excellent work in nurturing their young children. I understand that Qaniat, a former player herself, serves as her son's personal coach and has been instrumental in training both her son and daughter to achieve this international recognition."
Olopade further assured Aruna and his wife that the Sports Commission is proud of their efforts in supporting their children's development. "We will always be available to offer all kinds of support to further cultivate the full potential of these young athletes," he added.
The DG emphasized that with talented young individuals like Quadri and numerous other promising Nigerian athletes across various sports, the nation's sports future appears very bright.
