Nentawe Calls for Unity Against Insecurity in Plateau State

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has called upon the citizens of the Kanam local government area in Plateau State to unite in the fight against the insecurity threatening their lives and the broader state.

He emphasized the need for community engagement in enhancing security measures to create a peaceful environment where residents can live without fear.

This appeal comes on the heels of a recent violent clash between armed bandits and security operatives in Wanka community, which left over 20 soldiers and local vigilantes dead.

During a visit to express condolences to the victims at the Palace of the Emir of Kanam, Alh. Muhammadu Mu’azu Muhammadu, Prof. Yilwatda conveyed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and the entire community, voicing solidarity during this challenging period.

He expressed that his thoughts were firmly with those affected, wishing comfort to families who have experienced loss and praying for the quick restoration of peace, unity, and stability across Kanam.

Yilwatda highlighted the extraordinary courage, unity, and resilience shown by the Kanam populace in the face of adversity. He reminded them that these virtues signify that, despite challenging situations, hope and a collective will can triumph. He urged all stakeholders, including leaders and citizens, to recommit to nurturing peace, bolstering security, and building a future where every community can succeed without anxiety.

In addition to expressing condolences, Yilwatda also extended support to those directly impacted by the recent violence.

He noted that the current period is an opportunity to reflect on the spiritual significance of the Sallah festivities while celebrating the indomitable spirit of the Kanam people.
