Nico O’Reilly made a striking impact for Manchester City, scoring twice in a rapid five-minute stretch in the second half to lead his team to a 2-0 win against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final, thus eliminating the Gunners' hopes for a historic quadruple.

City took control of the match on the 60th minute after an unfortunate blunder by Arsenal's backup goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who mishandled a cross from Rayan Cherki. O’Reilly was quick to capitalize, heading the ball into the net from close range to put Pep Guardiola’s team ahead.

With the momentum firmly in their favor, City extended their lead just four minutes later when O’Reilly scored again, finishing off a cross from Matheus Nunes. This dominant display left Arsenal struggling and saw Guardiola celebrate enthusiastically on the sidelines.

Arsenal fought back with several attempts, including a shot from Riccardo Calafiori that hit the post and another from Gabriel Jesus that struck the crossbar, yet they could not find the net as City maintained their composure to secure the win.

This victory marks Guardiola's 19th trophy in his 10 seasons with Manchester City, highlighting his remarkable success with the club.

Meanwhile, for Mikel Arteta’s squad, the defeat presents a major disappointment. Arsenal had come into this final seeking to end a six-year trophy drought while ambitiously aiming for four titles this season.

The loss underscores Arsenal's tendency to falter in crucial moments and casts new doubts about their campaign, especially as they continue to compete in the Premier League title race.

Currently, City remains nine points behind Arsenal in the league table, but they have a game in hand, with an important clash between the two teams set for next month at the Etihad Stadium.
