Nicole Curtis has issued a statement following the cancellation of her show, 'Rehab Addict', from HGTV after raw footage surfaced in which she uses a racial slur during filming.
In a conversation with TMZ, Curtis expressed, "I want to be clear: the word in question is wrong and not part of my vocabulary, nor has it ever been, and I sincerely apologize to everyone." She also stated that she was unaware that HGTV decided to cancel the program on the same day it was set to make its return.
Reflecting on the network's choice, Curtis said, "I’m grateful for the 15-year journey we’ve had together. It’s been a significant chapter in my life, but I’m not focusing on my career at this moment. My priority is rightly on my relationships and my community—those who genuinely know who I am and what I stand for."
The controversy began when RadarOnline released clips from the renovation series. In the footage, Curtis, visibly agitated while working on a project, uses an offensive term before showing immediate shock at her own words.
In response, HGTV stated, "We were recently informed about an offensive racial remark made during the filming of 'Rehab Addict'. Such language is not only upsetting and disappointing to our viewers, partners, and staff, but it also contradicts HGTV's values."
Currently, the network has not made public any plans regarding the possible return of the show.
