The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), as part of its ongoing Operation Hadin Kai, has achieved a significant victory by eliminating a substantial number of terrorist fighters and commanders. The precision air interdiction took place at Kangarwa, located in the Northern Tumbuns.
The successful strike was a direct result of credible intelligence gathered, bolstered by Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance missions, which confirmed the presence and activities of terrorists in the specified location. This operation underscores the NAF's commitment to a continuous offensive campaign designed to dismantle terrorist strongholds and restrict the movement and operational capabilities of insurgents.
According to information released by the Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, Ehimen Ejodame, observers noted multiple terrorists moving within the settlement, utilising concealed positions and structures. Following precise identification and confirmation, NAF aircraft executed a series of targeted strike passes, delivering accurate ordnance on the identified targets.
The sustained bombardment led to the destruction of critical structures and logistics hubs used by the terrorists. It also resulted in the neutralisation of scores of fighters, thereby significantly degrading the terrorist enclave and diminishing its capacity to operate effectively.
The effectiveness of the strike is also expected to hinder terrorist movements, creating a more favourable environment for ground troops engaged in coordinated clearance operations within the region.
This particular operation is understood to have inflicted a substantial blow on elements of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), impacting both their combatants and aspects of their command and support infrastructure.
The achievement highlights the increasing synergy between the air and ground forces operating under Operation Hadin Kai, strengthening collective efforts to prevent terrorists from finding safe havens.
In his remarks, the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, affirmed the NAF's ongoing commitment. He stated, “The Nigerian Air Force will continue to deliver precision, intelligence-driven strikes in close coordination with surface forces until every terrorist enclave is dismantled and lasting security is restored.”
