Troops of the Nigerian Army, part of the Joint Task Force North-East operating under Operation Hadin Kai, successfully received three civilians who managed to escape from the captivity of terrorists in the Gwoza region of Borno State.

Military sources, as reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama, revealed that the escapees, which included two adult women and a minor, reached the troops' location on March 14, 2026. They fled the insurgents responsible for their abduction during a recent attack on the Ngoshe community in the Gwoza Local Government Area.

The individuals have been identified as Aishatu Dahiru, aged 67; Aisha Ali, 43; and a minor named Asta Ali.

According to the information provided by the sources, the victims disclosed in their initial interviews that they had been taken to a terrorist stronghold in Gava following their abduction. Other captives, they reported, were moved to various camps located in Chinene and Ghiraza.

The escapees further informed that the insurgents who executed the Ngoshe assault were gathered from several camps to carry out the operation.

They also accused two individuals, Sule Shuaibu, known as Dafa, and Dabbaba, of having helped coordinate the attack. These two men were previously associated with local hybrid security forces in Ngoshe before they allegedly joined the ranks of the insurgents.

The victims relayed to the troops that the terrorists had threatened those abducted, warning that any resident attempting to flee toward Pulka town would be killed during any insurgent onslaught in the vicinity.

Military sources confirmed that the escapees were thoroughly screened, documented, and provided with necessary assistance. They are currently in custody as part of ongoing administrative procedures.
