A Nigerian entrepreneur, Joy Solomon, recently recounted a situation where she decided to sever ties with a man she was communicating with during a preliminary relationship phase. The man made a remark that undermined her hard work and achievements by implying that a sugar daddy was the source of her business funding.
In a Facebook post on January 28, 2026, she disclosed that she was prompted to block him after he suggested, "my business must be sponsored by a sugar daddy."
She responded to this notion by stating, "If your first thought when you see a successful woman is 'which man is behind her?' you don’t deserve access to her."
Joy further emphasized the independence of women, asserting, "Women can build. Women can fund themselves. And yes, women can block nonsense."
