Ike Neliaku, the President of the National Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), stated that it is crucial for public relations professionals to establish a solid reputation in order to ensure that their messaging resonates effectively.
While addressing the newly inducted 421 members in Abuja, he highlighted that focusing on their reputation is key to their success in the field.
Neliaku emphasized that effective public relations must be grounded in evidence rather than mere opinion, fostering public trust in the conveyed messages.
He further explained that showcasing a strong image for an organization or a country attracts foreign assistance and investment, which in turn aids in economic development.
He cautioned the inductees against equating visibility with success, urging them to strive for impactful communication rather than simply speaking for the sake of being heard.
"Reputation is a fundamental asset that should not be taken lightly," he reiterated.
Former Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, also encouraged the inductees to view their membership in the NIPR as both a professional accolade and a responsibility.
"You are now qualified to practice in this field, which gives you a unique advantage over those who are not members," he mentioned.
He reassured the inductees that the NIPR will support their professional growth and develop qualities beneficial across various aspects of their lives, proclaiming that public relations extends beyond a job; it will evolve into a lifestyle for them.
