The National Institute for Sports (NIS) has successfully wrapped up an inspection of facilities in Adamawa State, marking a significant step towards the official launch of academic activities at the institute in the region.
As reported by Yakubu Iliyasu, the Information Officer for NIS in Adamawa State, this visit is indicative of the strengthening partnership between the NIS and the state government of Adamawa.
The inspection was spearheaded by Mr. Belmond Benson, the NIS registrar, who expressed satisfaction with the standards of the infrastructure and the logistical support provided by the Adamawa State Government.
Mr. Benson highlighted that the resources reviewed are adequate for the effective initiation of both academic and administrative tasks.
He also provided assurance that all newly assigned staff in Adamawa will receive the necessary institutional support to aid in their acclimatization and job performance.
Dr. Maj Remu, a consultant for the NIS, praised the Adamawa State Government for facilitating the accessibility of the inspected facilities. He noted that, considering the observed advancements, the facilities are projected to be fully operational by April 12, 2026, and expressed hope that any final touches would be completed prior to this date to enable a smooth start of operations.
In a statement, the Permanent Secretary of the Adamawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Albert Sambo, reiterated the state government's commitment to hosting the institute, promising continued support to ensure its successful establishment.
