Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, a three-time contender for the Ogun State governorship and a current member of the House of Representatives, has declared his intention to run for governor again in 2027, stating that it is now his time.

Daily Trust has reported that Isiaka, also known as GNI, participated in the state’s gubernatorial elections in 2011, 2015, and 2019, each time unsuccessfully.

Leading up to the 2023 general elections, Isiaka had initially aimed for the Ogun West senatorial seat. However, he eventually secured the ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Yewa North/Imeko-Afon federal constituency.

Currently, Isiaka holds the position of chairman for the House of Representatives' National Planning and Economic Development Committee.

Speaking at a media engagement in Abeokuta, he expressed his readiness to become the next governor of Ogun State in 2027, arguing that his extensive involvement in the state's political landscape warrants his ambition.

He refuted suggestions that he was being influenced to enter the race, emphasizing that his aspirations stem from years of personal commitment and political engagement.

"After contesting elections three times… I've invested significantly in this process, enabling me to participate in most discussions concerning the state's needs," the federal legislator stated.

Echoing President Bola Tinubu's pre-2023 election slogan, "Emilokan" (it's my turn), Isiaka asserted that he is the most qualified candidate for the governorship.

The lawmaker highlighted his political journey, including his previous bid under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he described as an "unknown party," as evidence of his independence and dedication.

Despite his strong declaration, he indicated that he remains open to discussions and potential alliances within the political sphere.
