An old clip featuring Nyesom Wike, the Minister for the Federal Capital Territory, has re-emerged, where he expressed his disapproval of the practice of sending children abroad for law studies.

This resurfacing of the video comes shortly after his son completed a Master’s degree in Law at Kings College, London.

Nyesom Wike condemning the act of sending children abroad to study law

In the recording, Wike, who previously served as the governor of Rivers State, stated:

‘’Some of these courses, you don’t need to send them abroad. What we have said in our own case is to say, ‘Listen, why do you have to send someone who wants to read English abroad? Why do I want to send someone who wants to study Economics overseas? Why do I want to send someone who wants to read Law overseas? When you know we have very good faculties in these areas in Nigerian universities?’’
