A significant surge of interest has been observed for teaching roles in Nasarawa State, with 21,452 certified educators applying for just 1,000 advertised positions in rural areas.
The Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB) is overseeing this recruitment drive.
Dr. Kasim Mohammed Kasim, the Executive Chairman of NSUBEB, acknowledged that the board received a substantial number of complaints regarding the brief application period. In response, the deadline has been extended by an additional week to ensure that more eligible candidates have the opportunity to submit their applications.
Dr. Kasim emphasized that the recruitment initiative is specifically focused on filling vacancies in rural schools. Successful candidates will be assigned to underserved communities throughout the state.
He stated, "The recruitment is primarily for rural teachers, and successful applicants will be posted to rural areas."
He also advised potential applicants to ensure they are genuinely willing to serve in rural settings before applying.
Furthermore, Dr. Kasim pledged that the entire selection process would be conducted with integrity, impartiality, and transparency.
"NSUBEB is working collaboratively with other stakeholders to revise the accelerated basic education curriculum," he added.
