The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) has dispatched a fresh group of 12 postgraduate scholarship recipients to universities in the United Kingdom, continuing the Federal Government's promise to enhance human capacity among the youth in the Niger Delta.
During a pre-departure briefing, Dr. Dennis Otuaro, the Administrator of the PAP, encouraged the scholarship recipients to excel in their studies and to act as admirable representatives of Nigeria and the Niger Delta.
According to a statement released on Thursday by Mr. Igoniko Oduma, the Special Assistant on Media to the Administrator, the orientation program included sessions on topics such as 'Social and Cultural Relations in the UK,' 'Academic Expectations,' and 'Scholarship Administration.' Each participant also received a laptop to assist with their research and thesis preparations.
Dr. Otuaro warned the students against disappointing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Federal Government, and the Niger Delta residents, emphasizing that they carry the legacy of PAP's educational sponsorships, which will have a noticeable impact in the future.
He mentioned that the selected scholars were enrolled in industry-relevant programs tailored for maximum effectiveness upon their return. Furthermore, exceptional MSc scholars who meet the qualifications for PhD programs will also receive additional academic assistance.
Among the beneficiaries, Arafiena Shekinah Nkem, enrolled in MSc Project Management at the University of Liverpool, and Omokaro Rick Efosa, undertaking MSc Supply Chain and Logistics Management at Coventry University, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, the NSA, and PAP leadership, assuring that they would study earnestly and contribute to the nation's progress.
