Lagos-based pastor Kingsley Okonkwo asserts that there is no scripture that restricts a follower of Christ from acquiring a tattoo.

Recently, the pastor, known for his relationship guidance and sermons, shared a video of himself getting a tattoo, which sparked backlash from some Nigerian Christians. Critics labeled his actions as inappropriate for a Christian, especially for someone in the clergy.

In a discussion with News Central, Okonkwo responded firmly, stating that there is neither biblical nor scientific evidence to classify tattoos as sinful or indicative of poor character. He contended that various religious leaders and laity often impose their personal beliefs, church rules, or individual convictions onto others without valid reasons.

"There is no scripture that says a child of God cannot have a tattoo. People keep shouting that tattoos are bad, yet nobody can explain why. There is no scriptural proof, no scientific proof, just assumptions," he explained.
