Senator Abubakar Umar Gada has called on members and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State to stay calm, united, and unwavering in their dedication to the party’s ideals and vision.
This statement comes in light of the recent announcement by former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, regarding his switch from the PDP to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement released in Sokoto on Thursday, Senator Gada reassured party loyalists that this development would not diminish the organizational structure, unity, or electoral potential of the PDP in Sokoto State.
“The PDP continues to be the most structured and people-centric political party in Nigeria, boasting robust grassroots organizations across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja,” he stated.
Gada emphasized, “Our strength derives from the collective dedication of our members, leaders, and supporters who have consistently backed the party through various political landscapes.”
He acknowledged the dynamic nature of politics, asserting that individuals are entitled to make their own political decisions. Still, he maintained that the PDP as an institution remains strong, resilient, and closely aligned with the aspirations of the Sokoto populace and Nigerians at large.
“I am pleased to inform our members that the national leadership of the party has commenced initiatives aimed at enhancing internal cohesion and fortifying the party's framework nationwide. Ongoing consultations and reconciliation efforts among party stakeholders seek to address any concerns and ensure the party progresses with renewed focus and solidarity,” he added.
