In line with the observance of World Oral Health Day 2026, Pepsodent, a prominent leader in oral care, has initiated a school-level campaign targeting key educational institutions across 17 states in Nigeria. The goal is to cultivate healthy oral practices among young Nigerians.

This campaign was executed simultaneously in several major cities, including Port Harcourt, Abeokuta, Sagamu, Ibadan, Ondo Town, Awka, Enugu, Abuja, Lagos, Yenagoa, Keffi, Calabar, Uyo, Benin City, and more.

The activation in schools provided Pepsodent with a platform to convey the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene to the students.

World Oral Health Day is annually observed on March 20, aiming to equip individuals with the necessary knowledge, tools, and confidence to achieve excellent oral health, which is vital for overall well-being and quality of life.

Amie further explained that the combination of education and interactive learning enhances children’s understanding of effective brushing, limitations on sugar consumption, and the importance of regular dental check-ups.

She expressed that Pepsodent aims to collaborate with schools, parents, and communities to solidify these essential practices, ensuring that what children learn during these campaigns is implemented both at school and at home.

"At Pepsodent, we recognize that maintaining healthy teeth extends beyond occasional brushing. It involves developing consistent daily habits that protect one’s smile and overall health. This year's 'Do The 2' campaign highlights the importance of brushing twice daily, which should be perceived not as a chore but as a simple routine that brings significant benefits. We are also committed to supplying the right tools, education, and support so families can take control of their oral health. Through partnerships, community engagement, and interactive initiatives, we aspire to empower Nigerians towards safeguarding their smiles and gaining the confidence that accompanies good oral hygiene," she remarked.

Dr. Aminat Ige, Education Secretary of the Local Government Education Authority in Alimosho, praised the brand for introducing the program directly to schools, which would enhance awareness of the importance of oral hygiene among students and their parents.

Dental Surgeon Dr. Abraham Akinbami also voiced support for the campaign, mentioning that it is encouraging to witness Pepsodent leading efforts to instill oral hygiene practices in young individuals rather than attempting to alter the behaviors of older generations, who may be more set in their ways.

In a similar vein, Temidire Primary School's headteacher, Moninuola Lawal, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Unilever Nigeria Plc for this initiative, emphasizing its potential to empower children to influence household habits by raising awareness within their families.

She stated, "This campaign has provided an invaluable experience for both our pupils and staff. Oral health, often neglected, is crucial for children’s well-being as it influences their confidence and ability to focus and learn. The interactive sessions and demonstrations leave lasting impressions on the students, helping families adopt improved oral care habits together. We require more initiatives like this to ensure our children develop with robust, healthy teeth and the knowledge to sustain them for life."

This school awareness initiative is part of Pepsodent’s continued commitment to advocating for oral health across Nigeria. Through this campaign, the brand strives to empower children with the necessary knowledge and practices for maintaining good oral hygiene and overall health.
