A significant protest, branded as the ‘Save Democracy protest’, is currently underway in Abuja, with notable Nigerian politicians and activists participating. Among those present are Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Atiku Abubakar, Rauf Aregbesola, Dino Melaye, and Aisha Yesufu.
The demonstrators gathered outside the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in the nation's capital. Many participants were visibly identifiable by their "Operation Save Our Democracy" T-shirts, while others held placards bearing messages such as “INEC Chairman Amupitan must go”.
The protest follows closely after INEC's decision to cease recognition of the leadership of the David Mark-led ADC faction.
