Abdussamad Dasuki, the representative for the Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal Constituency in Sokoto State, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Dasuki's resignation letter, which was directed to the PDP chairman of the Dogon Daji/Salah Ward in the Tambuwal Local Government Area, is dated March 15, 2026, marking the end of his longstanding membership with the party.
In the letter, he highlighted the prolonged leadership crisis that has plagued the PDP, indicating it has severely hindered the party's effectiveness as a principal opposition force.
Dasuki also pointed out that these persistent internal issues have obstructed the PDP from providing a credible and organized opposition, which is vital for the enhancement of democracy in Nigeria.
He explained that this pivotal decision followed detailed consultations with political allies, constituents, and concerned stakeholders who resonate with his worries about both the party's and the nation's current situation.
Post-resignation, the lawmaker has affiliated himself with the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He stated that this transition would allow him to partner with other committed individuals dedicated to addressing the socio- economic and political challenges facing the nation.
Acknowledging the support he received from PDP members during his tenure, Dasuki reaffirmed his dedication to serving the Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal Constituency in Sokoto State and Nigeria with integrity and perseverance.
He urged his followers and constituents to remain resolute as he embarks on this new political path aimed at contributing to initiatives that will restore the nation and foster a better and more democratic Nigeria.
