A prominent advisor to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Yuri Ushakov, has announced that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is welcome to come to Moscow for direct negotiations with Putin, assuring that necessary security measures would be provided for his visit.

Ushakov emphasized that Putin has consistently communicated his stance regarding a potential meeting. He indicated that the Kremlin remains open to hosting the talks if Zelenskyy is genuinely willing to engage in face-to-face discussions.

Ushakov stated that protective measures would be established to ensure Zelenskyy’s safety should he choose to travel to Russia. He further mentioned that the topic of a possible meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy was raised during recent conversations between Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump, who suggested that Moscow might want to consider facilitating such a meeting.

These comments arise amid renewed diplomatic activities concerning the possibility of peace talks. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, has recently asserted that Zelenskyy is open to meeting Putin in person to address what he described as two critical negotiation issues: territorial disagreements and the future administration of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

Putin has previously dismissed the idea of meeting in a foreign country with Zelenskyy, insisting that any discussions must occur in Moscow. Ukrainian officials, including Sybiha, have expressed their opposition to the notion of a Moscow-based meeting, labeling it as unacceptable.

Zelenskyy has also shown doubts regarding the invitation, suggesting it might be a maneuver to stall genuine negotiations. He noted that the request to visit Moscow under the current situation seems structured to hinder rather than promote a substantive meeting.

Despite the exchange of remarks, no specific date or detailed agenda for a proposed meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy has yet been established.
