Madagascar is fortifying its military collaboration with Russia as it navigates a political transition after the removal of the previous administration.
Moscow is providing military technology to the island country and has dispatched a team to instruct its armed forces in utilizing this equipment, as stated by the presidency of Madagascar on Wednesday.
The training will encompass a variety of equipment and will involve several military units located in the capital city, Antananarivo, as indicated by the presidency.
While emphasizing its readiness to cooperate with nations worldwide, the presidency also highlighted that Madagascar has historically relied on Russia for much of its military hardware.
The nation has been undergoing a political transition since October when a coup d'état ousted former president Andre Rajoelina following weeks of protests driven by youth demanding solutions to power and water shortages.
