Nigerian comedian Seyi Law has once again voiced his strong backing for President Bola Tinubu, stating he is prepared to 'stake everything' on the president's leadership despite the prevailing economic hardships.

His comments came during his address at the 8th All Progressives Congress (APC) National Summit held in Abuja last Friday, where he spoke to party stakeholders, including the President, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other high-ranking officials.

During his address, Seyi Law credited President Tinubu with stabilizing Nigeria’s economy, specifically pointing to the increased foreign reserves.

“If tasked with introducing the President, I would emphasize how I am willing to stake everything on him. He was the one who took Nigeria back from the brink when our net foreign reserves were barely at one billion US dollars,” Seyi Law expressed.

“Now, we celebrate a net foreign reserve of around 40 billion US dollars, alongside a gross reserve of 50.7 billion US dollars,” he added, highlighting the 42-year-old’s commitment to growth.

In addition, the comedian defended several pivotal economic reforms launched by the administration, such as the elimination of fuel subsidies and the unification of the foreign exchange market, identifying them as crucial measures to combat systemic corruption.

“Corruption isn’t eradicated overnight; it needs to be addressed methodically. From the very first day of his term, he confronted corruption by halting the fuel subsidy system.

“He did not stop there. He examined the impact of foreign exchange on the nation and floated the currency, resulting in the unification of the black market and official exchange rates,” he stated.

Seyi Law also acknowledged the government's attempts to reduce industrial actions in universities and to enhance student support services.

“He comprehended the significance of education, ensuring that four-year courses are completed in four years. This administration has recorded one of the shortest strike durations, with merely a nine-day interruption.

“Students can now access loans, with nearly one million already on board, receiving a monthly stipend of N20,000,” Seyi Law elaborated.

The APC supporter further emphasized investments in technical education, citing improvements in accessibility and student welfare.

“Mr. President has established several technical colleges nationwide, tuition- free for all students, with students from these colleges also receiving salaries of up to N45,000,” he noted.

In pointing out ongoing infrastructure initiatives across Nigeria, he described them as evidence of the transformative governance under Tinubu.

“This is a leader dedicated to Nigeria’s progress, engaging in significant infrastructural projects. Examples include the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, a 700-kilometer road, and the 1,000-kilometer Sokoto–Badagry Highway, along with the repair of major highways such as Sagamu–Ijebu Ode–Ore and Benin–Asaba,” he explained.

He added that the administration has prioritized juvenile involvement and enhanced support for small to medium-sized enterprises.

“No president in Nigerian history has shown such commitment to including the youth in governance as this one. More than nine billion naira has been allocated to small and medium-sized enterprises,” he stated.

“Mr. President is actively changing Nigeria’s dynamics,” the comedian concluded.

Seyi Law has continuously positioned himself as a fervent advocate for President Bola Tinubu, defending the administration’s policies and reforms, like the withdrawal of fuel subsidies and its efforts in economic management, infrastructure, and education.

His support traces back to the 2023 general elections, where he significantly endorsed Tinubu as his candidate of choice. Since then, he has adopted a prominent role in advocating for political matters, particularly with the upcoming 2027 elections in view.

Despite facing criticism for his views, including a perception of reduced social media followers, Seyi Law remains firm in his support for the President, maintaining that these policies are crucial for Nigeria's sustained growth and stability.

He has asserted that if given another opportunity, he would vote for Tinubu again. However, his statements have stirred controversy, notably when he claimed that Nigeria is currently safer under Tinubu than it was a decade ago.

Following backlash, he publicly apologized for his remarks, acknowledging that his wording was inappropriate and labeling the statement a misstep. He has also been associated with organizing support networks focused on Tinubu's re- election campaign in 2027, indicating a shift in his involvement from entertainment to an active role in political mobilization.
