Comedian Seyilaw has apologized to Nigerians for his statement suggesting that the country is safer now than it was a decade ago.

During a recent podcast appearance, he commended the administration led by President Tinubu, asserting that the government has made significant strides in addressing insecurity and that conditions in Nigeria have improved over the past ten years.

However, this comment sparked backlash from many Nigerians, particularly those who have been victims of kidnappings and other violent crimes, who found his remarks to be insensitive.

In response to the criticism, Seyilaw took to social media this evening to issue a formal apology in a video.

He shared the video on his Instagram and wrote:

‘’My fellow Nigerians,

I owe you this and more. You don’t deserve to have your sleep snatched away from you, and the pain of one should be the pain of all.

I am sincerely and deeply sorry for such an insensitive statement. I apologize to victims, families, and everyone who has been affected in any way by the insecurity in the country.

As a supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, I want to also use this opportunity to call on him to intensify efforts in the battle against insecurity.

God bless you and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.'’
