Charles Soludo has been sworn in for a second term as Anambra State Governor.
The oath of office and the oath of allegiance were administered to Soludo on Tuesday at exactly 11:50 a.m. during a ceremony held at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
Onyekachukwu Ibezim was also sworn in as the deputy governor of the state during the same event.
The Chief Judge of Anambra State, Onochie Anyachebelu, officiated the swearing-in ceremony.
Soludo, who previously secured victory in the November 8, 2025, governorship election under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), will serve until March 2030.
The event was attended by the Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, along with notable former leaders, including Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan. Other distinguished attendees included renowned diplomat Emeka Anyaoku and the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, represented by his Deputy, Ifeanyi Ossai.
In the November 2025 elections, Soludo emerged with 422,664 votes, significantly ahead of his nearest challenger, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the APC, who garnered 99,445 votes. Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party came third with 37,753 votes, while George Moghalu of the Labour Party finished fourth, receiving 10,576 votes. Remarkably, Soludo secured victories in all 21 local government areas of Anambra.
This achievement marks only the second time a candidate has won in all local council areas in a governorship election in Anambra, a feat first accomplished by Willie Obiano in 2017.
Charles Soludo was initially elected as governor on November 6, 2021, and then sworn in on March 17, 2022. His second term will conclude in March 2030.
