A resident of Kazaure in Jigawa State, Nuhu Bakanike, has died following an alleged attack by his own son, who is said to have set him on fire. The disturbing event is reported to have taken place on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Sources indicate that the suspect, identified as Kabiru, doused his father with petrol before igniting it with matches. The victim suffered extensive burns as a result of the assault.
Following the attack, Mr. Bakanike was promptly transported to a hospital for urgent medical attention. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The police have taken the suspect into custody and are conducting an ongoing investigation into the matter.
