Leo Edochie, son of the iconic actor Pete Edochie, has addressed the rampant rumors asserting that his father has passed away.
The claims began to spread on X (previously known as Twitter) on Tuesday following a post by a user named D Great,

that Edochie was hospitalized and subsequently died under unclear circumstances.
The same user went on to falsely state that Edochie's eldest son had confirmed the death on Instagram.
In the post, D Great wrote: "Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has just passed away at the age of 78 after being rushed to the hospital due to unknown circumstances. His elder son confirmed the passing, calling it a tragic moment, and stated, 'Rest in peace, sir.'"
The misleading post quickly gained momentum, with numerous other users on X sharing the claim without corroboration.
However, in response, Leo took to his Instagram page on Tuesday night to firmly dismiss the allegations, asserting that the 78-year-old actor is in good health.
Leo described the rumors as groundless, attributing their origin to "the pit of hell."
He stated: "I've been inundated with calls and messages regarding the absurd rumors that our father, Chief Pete Edochie, is deceased, which is a lie from the pit of hell. Our father is not only alive but thriving."
Leo added: "If anyone is wishing someone dead, two things typically happen: that individual lives for a long time, and the person wishing them dead dies first. Let me say it again: if you wish others dead, one, they will live long, and two, you will die before them. Shame on all of you. God punish you all."
This incident is not the first instance of death rumors surrounding the veteran actor. Reports indicate that in July 2022, Uche, another son of Edochie, had to debunk similar false claims that his father had died in a car accident.
During that time, Uche took to his Instagram account to clarify that his father was alive and had not been involved in any accidents.
He also condemned the continuous circulation of such baseless claims, which he noted had occurred repeatedly for over two decades.
Uche stated: "Hello everyone. My dad is okay. No, he is not dead, nor has he been in an accident. Believe it or not, for the past twenty years, a group of individuals has been attempting to declare my dad dead. They do this every couple of years. It makes one wonder what drives people to spread such news. These are adults doing this, perhaps to gain attention or traffic on their websites. Who can tell?"
He further expressed frustration with these persistent rumors, remarking, "This is not a one-time issue; they have been at it for years, and just recently friends reached out to us yet again. My father must be some kind of superhero since, according to those pushing these tales, he has died a hundred times in the last twenty years. Nevertheless, thank you all for the concern. Just needed to set the record straight. Have a wonderful week ahead," he concluded.
