The Nigerian women's national football team, the Super Falcons, are slated to engage in friendly matches against Cape Verde later this month. Specific details regarding the venue and exact dates for these encounters are still pending confirmation.
The matches are planned to take place during the next international window for women's football.
This comes after the Super Falcons recently played two friendly games against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon during the previous international break.
These new training games are intended to bolster the team's readiness for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The continental tournament was rescheduled from March to July.
In the WAFCON 2026 tournament, Nigeria has been placed in Group C alongside debutants Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt.
Meanwhile, Cape Verde, who are making their first-ever appearance in the biennial competition, will compete in Group D with Cameroon, Ghana, and Mali.
The WAFCON 2026 finals will also serve as a qualification pathway for the next year's FIFA Women's World Cup, which is set to be hosted in Brazil.
