The Kwara State Police Command announced the arrest, which was a collaborative effort involving police officers, the National Forest Guards, and members of the Kaiama Vigilante Group, according to a statement released on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi.

A preliminary inquiry suggests that Abubakar was contacted on March 30 by an associate known only as Babi, who is reportedly from Babana village in the Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

According to Adetoun, he was later invited to travel to Farinsuni via Baruten Local Government Area with the objective of joining a group believed to be affiliated with ISWAP or Lakurawa, but he was intercepted and arrested before he could proceed.

The suspect is currently in police custody, and further investigations are underway to ascertain the full scope of his alleged involvement and to identify and apprehend any other individuals connected to this case.

Adetoun conveyed that the state Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, reiterated the command's dedication to ensuring the safety of lives and property throughout Kwara State.

He also urged residents to maintain a high level of vigilance and to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the relevant security agencies.
